Casanova 03:16
CASANOVA Words by K. Adkins When we first met I felt like Casanova From across the room I could feel you coming over And I leapt to you like sunshine to a flower Right then I knew I was helpless to your power My last girlfriend you said you didn’t know her A sip from you and my cup was spilling over And now I'm racking my brain for something to remember How you looked that cold night in December A late, long walk to the car Led by a distant star Please tell me just how far To get where ever you are You left me clutching your last drink Leaned in softly, kissed me on the cheek And what else was my heart supposed to think When you turned around and left me with a wink Confusing but amusing, don't you think A late, long walk to the car Led by a distant star Please tell me just how far To get where ever you are Where the fuck is my car (where's my fucking car) Lingering sounds from the bar If I was your distant star (distant fucking star) Would you be my lonely guitar Would you be this lonely guitar ...When we first met I felt like Casanova From across the room I could feel you coming over

FORCED METAPHORS Words by K. Adkins Metal can feel like wetness Pity just like tenderness And healing grace from above Pride can be a prejudice Hubris only confidence And passion lust without love Charity can feel like sinfulness Wrapped in your own selfness If you give without love You’re a compass to my loneliness When I’m lost in your wilderness All roads lead to your love Wagered what I had and lost Given what our lives will cost Taken breaths that where once mine Let me hold you one last time Without love, Without love We’re just forced metaphors Without love, Without love, Without your love We’re just like simple similes to weak analogies Without love, Without your love

Jamie 03:52
JAMIE Words by K. Adkins An aching for my bed A waking for the dead A coffin for me You hold my body A morning for a death A nighttime full of sweat A desperate man’s dreams You contain my screams And Jamie says she is alright Just one more hit before first light You can take my hand, I don’t care Don’t leave me drowning in this chair A room of wrong-sized doors A maze upon your floors The rabbit holds the key But he can’t chase me A leash that’s just too tight A dog that’s worse then its bite The sum of all my tears You consume my fears And Jamie says she’s alright Just one more hit before first light You can take my hand, I don’t care Don’t leave me drowning in this chair Don’t leave me drowning in this chair In this chair… I penned another lonesome letter today All the words you don't wanna hear me say Know that I'll be there if you want me to ...To see that light inside of you (but I'll keep holding onto you) ...That's grown so faint since I met you (I'll be standing strong for you) And Jamie says she’s alright Just one more hit before first light You can take my hand, I don’t care Don’t leave me drowning in this chair And Jamie says she’s alright Just one more hit before first light You can take my hand, I don’t care Don’t leave me drowning in this chair Don’t leave me drowning in this chair Don’t leave me drowning in this chair

Want Ad 03:40
WANT AD Words by K. Adkins As of this morning your mom was still dead At least that's what the newspaper man said Shake the alarm and wake your sleepy head Took too long before I hit send So now you think you know what I meant Like every truly love this semester will end Took out a want ad Dictate exactly what I want to see Looking for a post-grad With a minor in philosophy Took out a want ad Now you know what to expect from me Looking for a post-grad With her heart set on a PhD If we wait much longer we’re sure to reach land I remember Columbus, his feet upon the sand It’s a whole new world and I a whole new man Took out a want ad Dictate exactly what I want to see Looking for a post-grad With a minor in philosophy Took out a want ad Now you know what to expect from me Looking for a post-grad With her heart set on a PhD Sometimes it takes more than a simple word Drifting back and forth between a pen and the sword Before we slept we had plan in place Need you back NOW, I can no longer wait …I can no longer wait It’s too late for sleeping But you're still in bed It's like you never heard what I said Took out a want ad Dictate exactly what I want to see Need you as my post-grad With a minor in philosophy Took out a want ad Now you know what to expect from me Need you as my post-grad With your heart set on a PhD Took out a want ad Dictate exactly what I want to see Why can’t you find you way back? Following the words to me Took out a want ad I know that you’ll come back to me Hate to see you so sad I’m waiting on a bended knee

Still Beating Heart Words by K. Adkins And I knew from the start, start I could no longer take it This still beating heart, heart You had the power to drain it Lord, you gave what I got, got Stolen from secret locations Down deep in the dark, dark Brought to the light of salvation You say to give and not count cost Is my life worth more when it's lost Somedays it's just too hard to try I want you with me when I die Take away this cup, cup The night is cold and I'm shaking Is it ever enough, 'nough All that I've given you've taken Don't lead me down, down A road that's lost and foresaken Can't hear the sound, sound The beating heart is still breaking You say to give and not count cost Is my life worth more when it's lost Somedays it's just too hard to try I want you with me when I die You say there is no bottom How can we reach the top You have no problem breaking This still beating heart And I knew from the start, start I could no longer take it My still beating heart, heart You had the power to break it Lord, you gave what I got, got Stolen from secret locations Down deep in the dark, dark Brought to the light of salvation You say to give and not count cost Is my life worth more when it’s lost? Some days it’s just to hard to try I want you with me when I die You say there is no bottom How can we reach the top You have no problem breaking This still beating heart You say there is no bottom How can we reach the top You have no problem breaking This still beating heart No longer lost, lost But still somehow forsaken Paid all of the cost, cost This beating heart is still breaking You say to give and not count cost Is my life worth more when it’s lost? Some days it’s just to hard to try I want you with me when I die Come on and bleed with me My sweet little honey bee Pull me tight to your chest Let me feel your warming breath Your body next to mine Moving in rhythmic time I wanna feel this way Each and every single day

about

Franklin Gotham brings upbeat-melancholia pop back on the indie scene. Described as Wilco meets Squeeze, listeners will also hear strains of Old 97s, REM and Death Cab for Cutie. They deliver honest & heartfelt compositions entwined with warm rhythms and soothing vocals. Introspective and reflective lyrics paired with acoustic guitar paint rich visuals for listeners. Franklin Gotham is the creative combining of songwriter Kevin Adkins (Icewagon Flu), multi-instrumentalist Jarrett Nicolay (Virginia Coalition, Astra Via), and drummer Christopher Speich (Nashville Sessions). The team offers both modern and rustic sounds through acoustic guitar rhythms, clever, thoughtful lyrics and modern percussion.

"The masterful composition, beautiful vocals, and cleverly quirky lyrics managed to warm my otherwise frozen heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it could do the same for any fan of chill indie pop.
...this isn’t some off-brand, bargain bin, preowned music. Nah man, this is the good stuff. It’s well-written and inventive from start to finish." — The Jailhouse

"The music features upbeat, hopeful lyrics and simple story telling and is complemented by a minimalistic production technique as well as rustic, soothing acoustic instrumentation accented by sparing use of synths. Millennials may hear bits of Death Cab for Cutie and Wilco while those with a longer listening history may be reminded of Joe Jackson and Marshall Crenshaw." — Modern Rock Review
