Heart in a Box lyrics by K. Adkins -- VERSE: Slow breath Then hesitate Calm nerves Can barely wait Lean in As I kiss your face You're here By no mistake VERSE: Three days Six months ago Last night Upon the road We swore To take it slow And now You're all I know CHORUS: Gonna put your love in a jar Gonna hold your hand in the car Gonna put your heart in a box And know it safely unlocks For no one else but me You're under lock and key There is no mystery You belong to me You belong to me VERSE: Fade out Into the night Heart syncs With the headlights Your hands Hold the wheel so tight Let go And let me drive CHORUS: Gonna put your love in a jar Gonna hold your hand in the car Gonna put your heart in a box And know it safely unlocks For no one else but me You're under lock and key There is no mystery You belong to me You belong to me BRIDGE: VERSE: So long But not goodbye First time You made me cry Your lips As they fell from mine Spoke words I could not find CHORUS 2X: Gonna put your love in a jar Gonna hold your hand in the car Gonna put your heart in a box And know it safely unlocks For no one else but me There is no mystery You're under lock and key You belong to me You belong to me

about

Franklin Gotham brings upbeat-melancholia pop back on the indie scene. Described as Wilco meets Squeeze, listeners will also hear strains of Old 97s, REM and Death Cab for Cutie. They deliver honest & heartfelt compositions entwined with warm rhythms and soothing vocals. Introspective and reflective lyrics paired with acoustic guitar paint rich visuals for listeners. Franklin Gotham is the creative combining of songwriter Kevin Adkins (Icewagon Flu), multi-instrumentalist Jarrett Nicolay (Virginia Coalition, Astra Via), and drummer Christopher Speich (Nashville Sessions). The team offers both modern and rustic sounds through acoustic guitar rhythms, clever, thoughtful lyrics and modern percussion.

"The masterful composition, beautiful vocals, and cleverly quirky lyrics managed to warm my otherwise frozen heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it could do the same for any fan of chill indie pop.
...this isn’t some off-brand, bargain bin, preowned music. Nah man, this is the good stuff. It’s well-written and inventive from start to finish." — The Jailhouse

"The music features upbeat, hopeful lyrics and simple story telling and is complemented by a minimalistic production technique as well as rustic, soothing acoustic instrumentation accented by sparing use of synths. Millennials may hear bits of Death Cab for Cutie and Wilco while those with a longer listening history may be reminded of Joe Jackson and Marshall Crenshaw." — Modern Rock Review

FRANKLIN GOTHAM: Pop-infused Americana three-piece from the D.C. area delivering alt-indie, folk-rock that is irrefutably refreshing. With the emotional intensity of Tom Waits and sunny vulnerability of Nada Surf, imagine Morrissey on happy pills! RIYL: The Replacements, Dawes, Mumford & Sons and Wheatus. ... more
